Prof. Weimin Yang
Weimin Yang, male, born in November 1965 at Huitong of Hunan province, obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1998. He worked as a postdoc in the University of Tokyo, Japan from 2000 to 2002 supported by the Chinese government, and returned on schedule to work at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Elected as a ‘Taishan Scholar’ in Shandong Province in 2007, he served as an adjunct professor of Qingdao University of Science and Technology. In 2012, he was elected as a distinguished professor of ‘Cheung Kong Scholar’ of the Ministry of Education. As a professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. he is also serving as the Director of the Expert Committee of China Plastics Processing Industry Association, the Deputy Director of the Expert Committee of China Plastics Engineering Industry Association, and a member of the Special Committee of Renewable Energy Power of the China Renewable Energy Society, and an associate editor of the Journal of Beijing University of Chemical Technology. In the past 30 years, he has led a team to focus on scientific and technological issues related to ‘energy, resources, environment, and health’. Based on the interdisciplinary fields of ‘Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics’, ‘Mechanical Engineering’, and ‘Materials Science and Engineering’. His research group has made great efforts to explore in key directions such as polymer material processing and intelligent manufacturing, clean energy and low-carbon intelligent manufacturing, and has undertaken over 60 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Science and Technology Support Plan, the National Key R&D Program, and enterprise commissioned research projects, etc. His research group has developed green manufacturing technology of polymer nanofibers by melt differential electrospinning, low-carbon manufacturing technology of triangular balanced contour of tire with low rolling resistance and high-performance, '3D copy' technology for intelligent manufacturing of molding based on PVT characteristics of materials, self-cleaning and heat transfer enhancing rotor technology for shell-and-tube heat exchanger, and continuous power generation technology controlled by pulsed and microfluidic fusion stroke with flywheel based on the principle of firecrackers, etc. His innovative achievements include more than 300 authorized invention patents of China and abroad, published over 600 journal papers, and 15 books. He has won numerous honors and recognition, including 2 Awards of National Science and Technology Progress, 15 Provincial or Ministerial Awards, and honorary titles of 'Exemplary Individual of Beijing', 'National Excellent Teacher', etc.
